the gingerbread house we built from scratch...
its no secret...i'm surely not the best blogger. and although i had these high hopes of blogging everday leading up to the big holiday, i'm'a be honest i was to busy...wanna know why?
"i'm bringing cookies back" sing to the timberlake song melody
after chunking out a 16 page paper in a day and a half...and then another final project...my brain was fried and frankly my eyes were to dang on dry to think about looking at a computer...
except for getting cookie recipes...
so to relieve myself and celebrate the end of classes with two fairly good grades (a & b) i decided to:
seriously get my bake on
and i did...i really, really, really did.
i baked so much it was flat out ridiculous. really it was.
i made:
1. gingerbread
2. sugar cookies (two different recipes)
3. molasses sugar cookie
4. chocolate chip
5. chocolate chocolate chip
6. white chocolate peanut butter
7. mint chocolate wafers
8. raspberry and strawberry almond thumbprints
these were my gifts for my family....tins of cookies...and i have to say that they all have called me the next day mad...why, because i didn't give them more...and they were all gone.
my family swears i should open a bakery...it would have to be vegan...cause i refuse to bake anything that i cannot eat and try myself...and my "art career" would have to fail first...i've been baking for my family since i was about ten or so...and since i started baking...no one else does..cause my baked goods are so loved....
these are the molasses sugar cookies, vacummed sealed with me and e's gift to ourselves...the new foodsaver..purchased off of qvc (yeah i love qvc...what?)...i wanna say these are my favorites but, honestly i don't know if i can cause the chocolate chips, chocolate chocolate chips, and thumbprints were off the hook!
they were not really taking to picture taking...they wanted to hurry up and get to nana's and grandma's house...and i was toooooo cold to wait for smiles...and both eyes on me.
on christmas....
we had the most wonderful holiday, filled with the kids saying over and over again that it was the "bestest christmas ever" thanks guys.
i don't have the traditional kids opening the gifts pictures, because mami and papi were still tired as all get out from wrapping and building until 4:30 am the night before. we got home around 1 am, after spending christmas eve with abuelita, abuleto and tio carlos...where handmade traditional tamales were being enjoyed...along with a tin filled up with vegan cookies...i got to see my bro's pictures from siberia and russia were he spent thanksgiving...and it looked very cold...shiver me timbers just looking.

the boy and abuelito...notice the two of them always together? such love

opening up a gift from tio carlos...
my niece and nephew opening up gifts...guess who choose the sewing machine? yup me...
she was soooo happy, how could you blame her? and i spent all evening giving her her first lessons in sewing...which is why i have no pics of my little ones at nana's...we made her a little purse for her new ipod nano...she also got some patterns for her new josefina american girl doll...
christmas night rather than day at nana's house, because after leaving the house at 5pm (way too late) and an 1:15 min. drive lasting for a little over 2 we ended up at nana's house at around 7:30 to open up gifts with nana and cousins...then we went to see the best grandparents in the world...and left at around 11:30...which meant we got home at around 12:45...the kids went to sleep in their christmas finery...
and mami chowed down on toast...and was off to sleep
the last few days have been spent...with me doing absolutely nothing...besides trying to track down a replacement leapfrog leapster, green for the boy after his stopped working...luckily one was tracked down this morning, and papi volunteer for the hour long round trip to pick it up. i have been sleeping, playing with the kids and reading modern day urban gangster novels (courtesy of my mommy) and eating cookies and dealing with the resulting stomachaches for the past two days...it has been wonderful!
ooh and before i forget...and add pictures...we also went to the annual division 9 holiday party were art is exchanged white elephant style...and i seriously came up this year with a big lino cut print from jenny one of my newest friends...that i'm loving...after seeing her work which she said was influenced by me...i am definitely taking the printmaking uni class this spring

here is jenny with one of my pieces that she won...which was fitting since i won hers...we were both beyond stoked!
before i leave...i know my pictures are sucking lately, but here are a few more of the past week...enjoy!

sugar cookies rolled, and ready to be baked before the party at the gallery
we bought $20 worth of candy at the 99cents store...it was so hard not to eat it...can't wait till the braces come off...i have a date with twizzlers.
they loved the mittens they found in their stockings...wore them all day!
we truly believe santa is a vegan...look at how he downed those vegan cookies and chocolate soy milk! and left the kids a nice letter reminding them to be nice...by the way santa ate molasses sugar and regular sugar cookies with his chocolate milk.
the view at 4 am after all the wrapping, building and careful, quiet placement of the gifts and goodies for santa.
some leftover cookies that we saved for ourselves...shsshh..don't tell my mommie!
a slight view of the little wood land family that is now living with us in the fairy doll house...one of the best crafted toys i've ever seen!

my gifts from mr. e....he listened when i said i was bringing cookies back!
our from scratch ginger bread house...boy did it look and smell good! can you spot our family of four?
our gumdrop family of four...smile
the "hot juicy burger" girl that the girl and papi made...have u seen the wendy's commercial with the man in the red wig...well this was the girl's candy interpretation...the guys always tease her by saying "hot juicy burger" cause she doesn't like burgers and they do...
the boys gumdrop person...cute huh?
okay i think i'm killing you with the pictures..so i am going to end this now...and go do one or two of five things:
1.continue reading my ghetto gangster love story book, borrowed from my mom..the urban book queen
2.building a puzzle with the kids and e
3.cuddling up with more cookies, and getting ready for the stomachache with my trusty heating pad.
4.fall asleep on a movie with mr. e.
5.build up anxiety about the big...impending hair change i'm undergoing tomorrow and sunday (more on this later...i have too much anxiety to talk about it now..i know so lame)
hmmm...i think i will do 1-2 and 4-5....i don't feel like a tummy ache tonight...though i do feel like some cookies....oh well, i have a big hair date tomorrow...
hint, hint:
....snip...snip..(input a two day pause)...lock...lock...
i hope everyone had the most wonderful holiday....and get to be as lazy as me...
lots of love!
paz,
ki
